Wildcats snag DT commitment from Florida
By Corey Dowlar
Mark Stoops continued his recruiting success in the state of Florida on Tuesday by nabbing their seventh prospect from the Sunshine State.
The Wildcats picked up a verbal from defensive tackle Regie Meant (Cape Coral, Fla./Ida Baker).
Though still relatively raw, the 6-foot-5, 265-pound Meant has plenty of potential. Meant's coach at Ida Baker, Brian Conn, believes that once in a proper college football strength program, he will flourish.
"I think there is a lot of upside," Conn said. "He only played three years of high school football. He has great size. He is a lean 265 pounds. I think that when he gets into a college program, with their strength and conditioning and training tables, I think they are going to be able to mold him the way that they want to."
Ida Baker athletic director Lisa Vazquez believes Meant will up to the challenge at the next level, his diligence being one of the primary reasons.
"Reggie is a great young man across the board," Vazquez said. "He works hard and is just so committed to everything he takes on."
Meant is the Wildcats seventh commitment from Florida for the Wildcats in the Class of 2013.
