Official to USF excites 3-star safety
By Corey Dowlar
Being from Tampa, Nate Godwin (Tampa, Fla./Freedom) is familiar enough with USF.
This weekend, though, gave him a chance to meet and mingle with the players there like never before.
"It was fun," the three-star safety said after his official visit. "I learned a lot. I hung out with the players a lot and it was family-oriented. That was probably the best part about it."
Coaches have come and gone. Willie Taggart is now the Bulls' coach, replacing Skip Holtz. And with Taggart come a bunch of new assistants. Getting to know them was very important, from Godwin's perspective.
"It was really cool," he said. "I hung out with Coach Taggart a lot. I got to meet the new defensive backs coach Ron Cooper. They said they are going to bring in some of the top players. Coach Taggart is really cool. He doesn't talk a lot to you, he just keeps it real."
Fresh off his visit, and surging closer to signing day, the anticipation for Godwin is growing. He thinks the Bulls are headed in the right direction, and he can't wait to be a part of it.
"I am really excited to play for them because I feel like Coach Taggart is going to turn the program around," he said. "I can't wait to play for the defensive backs coach. He knows how to take me to the next level and is going to push me hard. Yeah, I am very excited to play for them."
