Dual-threat QB Jalen Harris makes choice

By Greg Ostendorf

Dual-threat quarterback Jalen Harris (Dothan, Ala./Northview) was waiting on a scholarship offer from a school that seems to fit his game perfectly.

So when in-state Troy finally pulled the trigger, he returned the favor and committed to the Trojans on Monday. It was Harris' first major Division I offer.

“It’s real exciting to get that opportunity,” Harris said. “There’s a lot of people out here that play hard that don’t get it, so I’m just blessed to have the opportunity to be able to play at that level.”

For Harris, it was more about the fit than it was the location.

“I think with the spread that they run, it was the best fit,” he said. “They offered me as a slot receiver and wildcat quarterback, and I just know the offense -- it’s similar to the offense I ran in high school, so I feel like I’d fit in and play right off.”

Harris becomes the 10th recruit to join Troy’s 2013 class.
