Watch List OL earns more interest

By Dave Hooker

Alex Bars is taking a wait-and-see approach with Tennessee's new coaching staff. Still, the early impressions are good.

"I haven't looked into the new coaching staff very much yet at Tennessee," the ESPN Watch List offensive lineman from Nashville (Tenn.) Montgomery Bell said. "Interested to see how they do ... They seem to be on top of things already, though."

Bars is being recruited to Tennessee by tight ends coach Mark Elder. The recruiter knows the area well. He recruited Tennessee when he was a coach at Cincinnati and made a positive impression on several prospects in the state, especially those who reside in Memphis.

The competition figures to be tough for Bars. He said Stanford, Oregon, Florida, Vanderbilt, Tennessee and Penn State have also shown interest. Bars said he would have no reservations about playing college football as far away as the West Coast.

The Big Ten could have more pull for Bars. He has a brother who plays at Penn State, and one at Michigan.
