Huskers beat Bama for OT Knevel

By Jared Shanker

Nebraska was there from the beginning for David Knevel (Brantford, Ontario, CAN/Pauline Johnson C&VS), which helped the Cornhuskers stave off a late charge from Alabama.

The Canadian offensive tackle committed to the Huskers over the Crimson Tide and West Virginia in a ceremony Tuesday. He is the 17th commitment of the Huskers' 2013 class.

It is a big pickup for the Huskers along the offensive line. The 6-foot-8, 274-pound Knevel has the frame to be a bookend tackle for the Huskers.

The Huskers are also fighting to hold on to three-star tackle Dan Samuelson. If Samuelson were to depart for Michigan, the Huskers will have Knevel to help fill out the class at offensive tackle.

Knevel officially visited Nebraska in late September, and it was his first official visit of the process. Alabama offered last week, and the Tide hosted him for an official visit the weekend of Dec. 7, giving the Tide some late momentum.

Knevel plans to enroll at Nebraska in January.
