4-star LB Nick Ramirez reopens recruiting
By Damon Sayles
Missouri suffered a blow to its 2013 recruiting class on Tuesday as four-star inside linebacker Nick Ramirez (Lee’s Summit, Mo./Lee’s Summit West) announced his decommitment from the Tigers.
Ramirez, a 6-foot-2, 235-pound linebacker and the No. 6 player in the Show-Me State, said he reopened up his recruiting process “to go check places out to make sure I make the right choice.” Along with an offer from the Tigers, Ramirez has offers from Nebraska, Kansas State, Iowa, Northwestern and Purdue, among others. He also is receiving interest from Alabama, Arkansas, Ohio State and Auburn.
Ramirez said he will take an official visit to Missouri in January. No other visits have been scheduled at the current time. Ramirez denied reports of an official visit being scheduled to Kansas State, but he is open to setting that up -- in addition to other interested schools.
When asked if he was considering any schools, Ramirez kept his answer simple.
“Whoever gets in contact with me,” he said.
Ramirez, the No. 23 inside linebacker in the country, originally committed to Missouri on April 14 during the Tigers’ spring game. He and three-star quarterback Trent Hosick (Kansas City, Mo./Staley) committed together. The Tigers still have 17 commitments, including three four-star players.
