Altee Tenpenny back from leg injury

8/29/2012

Preseason is a time of anticipation. Such is certainly the case for Altee Tenpenny

The ESPN 150 tailback will return to the field Friday for the first time since suffering a severe leg injury last August. The 78th overall prospect in the nation missed the remainder of the 2011 season and was gimpy through much of the spring. Then, the top prospect in Arkansas finally returned to full health and proved to be his ole’ explosive self in summer camps.

“It's just a blessing to get back on that field,” Tenpenny said. “Last year I dislocated my ankle. To come back faster than I was and stronger than I was, it's going to be great.”

Tenpenny maintains adamantly that he is just that - faster and stronger. That’s good news for North (Ark.) Little Rock and, eventually, Alabama, where Tenpenny committed in January.

“I know for a fact that I'm better than what I was,” he said.

Tenpenny maintains he’s 100-percent committed to the Crimson Tide but is still looking at other schools. He plans to take official visits to Arkansas and Oklahoma State in addition to a trip back to Tuscaloosa. Tenpenny is expected to take two other official visits. Tennessee and Notre Dame are strong possibilities.

No plans have been finalized for Tenpenny’s visits this fall. He’s in no rush to do so. He’s just ready to get back on the field on Friday.

“I'm very excited,” he said. “I'm playing with a special group of guys. We've got great coaches and great fan support. I'm just ready to get the job done.”
