WR Dionte Taylor talks about future visits

8/28/2012

Wide receiver Dionte Taylor (Davie, Fla./University School) was proud to help represent the state of Florida in Sunday's 33-14 victory over Trotwood (Ohio) Madison.

Now Taylor, a 6-foot, 170-pound senior, says the expectations for University School have been raised even higher.

"It was a lot of fun to play on national television and know that so many people were watching us," Taylor said. "I think we were the only team in Florida to play outside the state last weekend, so it was good to represent.

"Now things are going to get tougher because teams are going to be coming after all hard. Our head coach Roger Harriott said that we might be nationally ranked and that's nice but there's a big target on our backs because of it."

Taylor's recruitment continues to grow as well. He was planning on taking his first official visit to Boston College this weekend, but it's possible that could be pushed back.

"I'm not sure if I'm going to go this weekend or Sept. 29," Taylor said. "Originally, I was supposed to be going to Nebraska with Sojourn Shelton on the 29th, but we might go there on the 15th instead. I'll know more in the next couple of days."

Taylor says other schools have recently joined in his recruitment, specifically Michigan. The senior says he reached out to the Wolverines staff and expressed his interest in the program. A few weeks ago the staff got back with Taylor.

"Coach [Jerry] Montgomery reached out to me and told me they were going to check me out and there could be some interest there," Taylor said. "They are waiting to see what Alvin Bailey does, and he told me they wanted to show loyalty to the guys they have been working on for a while."

Taylor says he remains open and that UCF, Illinois, Missouri, Louisville and Cincinnati are also still high on his list.
