Versatile athlete up to 20 offers

Athlete Donovahn Jones (Hampton, Ga./Dutchtown) received offer No. 20 Friday from Louisiana-Lafayette. Coach Reed Stringer gave the 6-foot-2, 189-pound prospect the news. Jones has not only become one of the more coveted prospects in Georgia, but also one of the more versatile talents in the 2013 class.

Jones has offers from the SEC, ACC, Big East, Big Ten, Conference USA, Mountain West, Sun Belt and MAC. Moreover, he has been offered at quarterback, wide receiver, cornerback and safety. Arkansas State, Buffalo, Colorado State, Georgia State, Jacksonville State, Marshall, Middle Tennessee, South Alabama and USF have offered as a quarterback. UCF, East Carolina, Kentucky, Minnesota, Missouri, NC State and Troy have offered as a wide receiver. Arkansas has offered as a safety. Louisiana-Lafayette offered as a cornerback. Wake Forest offered Jones as an athlete, and Cincinnati has offered as a quarterback/athlete.

Jones plans to visit multiple schools during the GHSA "dead period," which runs June 29 through July 8. According to assistant coach Terry Herrod, Jones then will narrow his list to five to seven schools.
