Memorial Day weekend was a good one for UCF as the Knight's recruiting Class of 2013 grew to six with commitments from quarterback Justin Holman (Stone Mountain, Ga./Stephenson), defensive back D.J. Killings (Jacksonville, Fla./First Coast) and defensive lineman Seyvon Lowry (Jacksonville, Fla./First Coast).
Killings (5-10, 180 pounds), who committed Monday, was quickly courted by UCF's coaching staff.
"Coach [Sean] Beckton and coach [Kirk] Callahan really liked me," Killings said. "Coach Callahan let me know how much I was wanted and that's a big deal coming from the guy that's going to be your position coach."
Two days later, Killings' teammate, Lowry, joined him. The 6-2, 220-pound prospect also cited his relationship with Beckton.
"Coach Beckton was always checking in on me and I felt like this was the program that really wanted me," Lowry added. "It's exciting to be part of a program that's going places."
Carter reaps benefits
Last week, Lakeland (Fla.) Lake Gibson defeated Kissimmee (Fla.) Osceola, 37-20, in a spring game and several offers were extended post game.
Lake Gibson wide receiver Eric Carter caught two touchdown passes in the second half and was offered by Iowa State and Marshall.
"It was a good game and a good spring," Carter said. "I feel like our team has gotten better and this game was just a strong representation of how hard we've worked."
Carter, who has a dozen offers total, said he's looking forward to checking out some programs this summer.
"I am really interested in Iowa State because I like their coaches but I have plenty of looking around to do," Carter said. "Minnesota, Missouri, Cincinnati, Marshall...there are several schools I want to learn more about."
Osceola defensive back Hassan Childs had the assignment of covering Carter all night and did a good enough job to earn an offer from Marshall himself after the game.
Carter's teammate at Lake Gibson, defensive lineman Kennard Swanson was offered by LSU to play fullback.
Defensive lineman Ismael Aurismond (Hialeah, Fla./Hialeah) received an offer from Kansas.
West Palm Beach (Fla.) Cardinal Newman athlete Matt Burke was offered by Boise State and Marshall this week.
Under Armour All-American defensive lineman Demarcus Walker (Jacksonville, Fla./Sandalwood) will be taking an unofficial visit to Tennessee in June.
West Virginia, Oklahoma State and Florida State are all in the top group for Miami Christopher Columbus wide receiver Jesus Wilson.
Lorenzo Woodley's (Miami/Christopher Columbus) latest offer comes from Western Kentucky.
Miami Southridge safety Jamal Carter reports new offers from Virginia, Ohio State and Texas A&M.
Tallahassee (Fla.) Godby running back Tim Longmire was offered by Cincinnati.
Boston College is the latest offer for Under Armour All-American athlete Ryan Green (St. Petersburg, Fla./St. Pete Catholic).
