Neal no longer committed to Ohio State

5/1/2012

Lewis Neal is no longer an Ohio State commitment.

“I've opened up my recruitment,” the three-star linebacker prospect from Wilson (N.C.) Hunt told ESPN on Tuesday morning.

Neal, who committed to the Buckeyes on April 23 said coaches in Columbus are aware of his new stance.

“They know I'm not committed but I'm still considering them,” Neal said.

A scholarship offer from LSU is what shook up Neal's recruitment.

“It was crazy,” Neal said of the offer. “It's amazing.”

LSU defensive coordinator John Chavis visited Neal's school on Monday to deliver the offer in person.

“He's a real cool dude,” Neal said. “I just have to keep getting to know him.”

Neal said he knows plenty about LSU and has strong interest in the school.

“It's a defensive school,” Neal said. “You can go to the NFL and they play in the SEC.”

Neal said he'd like to play in the SEC. That will certainly factor into his decision.

“Everybody says it's the best conference,” Neal said.

Neal also has scholarship offers from East Carolina, North Carolina State, Clemson, Vanderbilt, South Carolina and Tennessee.
