Ben Boulware headed to Clemson

3/29/2012

Linebacker Ben Boulware (Anderson, S.C./T.L. Hanna) has made his decision.

“I'm committing to Clemson,” said Boulware. "I have been playing phone tag with the coaches. I talked with coach [Chad] Morris and he said I had to talk with coach [Dabo] Swinney. I have not been able to reach him but I will tonight."

In the end, Boulware said he was just more comfortable with the Tigers.

"I felt more at home at Clemson," Boulware said. "My entire family went to Clemson. My brother is playing baseball there.”

It came down to Georgia and Clemson for the inside linebacker prospect. It was a close call between the two.

“Honestly, many of the schools that offered me were too far away for me,” Boulware said. “It came down to Georgia and Clemson and they were pretty close. It was hard between those two. I just felt more at home at Clemson.”

Boulware, 6-foot-1 and 225 pounds, recorded 180 tackles last year as a junior and has 420 for his career. Other scholarship offers for Boulware are from Tennessee, Georgia Tech, USF, Maryland, Stanford, UConn, UCLA, Texas A&M, Minnesota, Duke and Ole Miss.

“I am kind of relieved now,” Boulware said. “I wanted to do it and get it done. I just want to finish high school now and enjoy my year.”

Clemson will now have five commitments in its 2013 class.
