UCLA now has three early commitments, two of which are from the state of Georgia.
Running back Keyante Green (McDonough, Ga./Eagles Landing Christian Academy) committed to the Bruins without ever stepping foot on campus. Ironically it was UCLA’s other Georgia commitment, quarterback Eddie Printz (Marietta, Ga./Lassiter), who had an active hand in putting Green and the Bruins together.
“He’s the person who hooked me up with the coaches there,” Green said. “He gave me their number and I called them. They seemed interested, requested film, did their evaluation and offered me this past Sunday.”
Green plans on visiting the UCLA campus soon. Despite not seeing them in person he was comfortable enough with their coaching staff to make his decision.
“The coaches were the main reason,” Green said. “Jim L. Mora is a really good guy and a pro guy with lots of coaching experience. I really, really like that coaching staff.
“The cross country thing doesn’t bother me. Distance is not a big deal. It’s about the relationship and being close to the coaches. Plus, this 2013 class for UCLA is going to be really good for UCLA. We are going to compete for Pac 12 championships.”
Green, 5-foot-9 and 190-pounds, said his decision boiled down to “UCLA, South Carolina and Georgia Tech.” He’s a standout on both sides of the ball, also exceling from the linebacker position for ELCA.
