ESPN 300 quarterback DeVante Kincade (Dallas/Skyline) considers himself a pretty good football player and excellent teammate on and off the field. While on his official visit to Ole Miss this weekend, Kincade showed that he was a pretty good recruiter, as well.
Kincade, a solid Ole Miss commit, put on his recruiting coordinator’s hat over the weekend and was happy to be in Oxford, Miss., when three-star receiver Quincy Adeboyejo (Cedar Hill, Texas/Cedar Hill) gave the Rebels his verbal pledge. Kincade and Adeboyejo live minutes away from each other.
And while only one of the targets committed over the weekend, Kincade felt his messages were well delivered and received.
“I probably got MVP of recruiting,” Kincade said jokingly. “I just told them we’re on the rise. They can be a part of something special. We can really make something happen with this class and the classes already there.”
Ranked No. 271 in the ESPN 300, Kincade said he has practiced his recruiting spiel on several players, whether they are considered solid commits or soft commits elsewhere. There are two commits in particular, however, who he said he wants to focus on as national signing day inches closer.
“Tunsil and Jones,” said Kincade, referring to offensive tackle Laremy Tunsil (Lake City, Fla./Columbia) and defensive end Chris Jones (Houston, Miss./Houston), two ESPN 150 studs. Tunsil, a five-star lineman, is No. 5 in the ESPN 150 and the the nation’s top-ranked tackle. Jones, who currently is committed to Mississippi State, is No. 46 in the ESPN 150 and the No. 6 defensive end nationally.
