Ashton Shumpert committed to Mississippi State on Monday, and didn't hold a news conference the way many top prospects announce their choices. The ESPN 300 athlete just informed the Bulldogs coaches.
"He's kind of handled it the way he's handled everything else, quietly," said his high school coach, Toby Collums. "Once he decided that Mississippi State was the place for him, he just did it a nonchalant way. He didn't bring a lot of attention to it."
Shumpert was also considering Ole Miss, Georgia and Vanderbilt. He is rated the No. 243 prospect in the nation and the No. 5 prospect in Mississippi.
