Class of 2014 Watch List offensive lineman Reilly Gibbons (St. Petersburg, Fla./St. Pete Catholic) admits it took him a while to get warmed up for the Under Armour National Combine. But the 6-foot-4, 274-pound senior was good to go by the time the one-on-ones began.
Going into the event, Gibbons reports over a dozen offers but he’s still working on trying to secure more.
“I’m definitely trying to get the attention of some of the bigger schools,” Gibbons said. “I’m trying to get something from Florida and something from Notre Dame for sure.
As for now, Gibbons said he’ll attend Miami’s junior day event next week and will also take a trip to Duke during the spring.
“A lot of my trips will probably wait until after basketball season,” Gibbons adds.
Gibbons, who moved from tight end to offensive tackle during the summer, is still learning the intricacies of the position but feels comfortable and believes he will develop into one of the best in the nation. His 40-yard dash time of 4.64 seconds was by far the fastest of the offensive lineman at the event.
“I think I have the qualities with the footwork and the physicality and it’s all going to come together,” Gibbons said. “So yeah, I want to be the best. I want to play in the Under Armour Game right here next year like my teammate Ryan Green.”
