WR Richard Benjamin likes Louisville move

11/28/2012

ESPN 300 wide receiver Richard Benjamin (Tampa, Fla./Tampa Bay Tech) will take an official visit to Louisville on Dec. 7 and is excited about the program’s announced move to the ACC.

The 6-foot, 190-pound Benjamin was committed to UCF over the summer but now has a final group of Louisville, Purdue, Texas A&M and West Virginia.

However, Louisville’s move could vault the Cardinals ahead of the pack.

“I like Louisville in the ACC. It’s good for a ton of reasons,” Benjamin explained. “It’s a conference with some good teams like FSU, Miami and Clemson. They will be grouped with a Florida school in either division and some of the programs are close enough to home for my family to go to the games.”

Benjamin took an official to Purdue last month, and since then the program dismissed head coach Danny Hope. The wide receiver was surprised to hear the news but is keeping an open mind about the coaching change.

“It was definitely a surprise because Purdue closed strong and made a bowl game,” Benjamin said. “But I liked a lot of things about that program and the school, so I’m not going to eliminate them.”

Benjamin said he’ll plan his other officials soon and will not have any in-home coaching visits this week.
