Ryan Timmons has seen enough of Ohio State to know he wants to learn much more.
The ESPN 300 athlete from Frankfort (Ky.) Franklin said he will take his official visit to Columbus in January. The goal will be to learn more about the Buckeyes' facilities and academic support.
The four-star prospect was in Columbus on Saturday to see the Buckeyes beat Michigan. Ohio State finished the season 12-0.
"It was a good, great game," the nation's No. 252 prospect said, adding that the fan support and game day atmosphere caught his attention.
Timmons has been to Ohio State multiple times this year but has said he won't commit to any school until his mother sees it up close. That is expected to happen in January during his official visit to Columbus.
The competition for Timmons has been uprooted by coaching changes. Of his five finalists, three have undergone coaching changes: Arkansas, Kentucky and Purdue.
Timmons has said he will take an official visit to Illinois in December. He spoke highly of the program after a summer visit there. Yet Ohio State seems to be in strong position.
