DL Nate Crawford talks Mizzou pledge

10/17/2012

Over the weekend Missouri received a big commitment from three-star defensive lineman Nate Crawford (Pensacola, Fla./West Florida Tech). The 6-foot-4, 260-pound senior chose the Tigers over offers from Kentucky, Louisville, Mississippi State and Cincinnati.

Crawford was in Columbia, Mo., on his official visit, and despite watching the Tigers lose to Alabama 42-10 on Saturday he felt an immediate connection to the campus and the program.

"Well, what really convinced me was that I felt like I was at home,” Crawford said. “The players and the people around made me feel like I was in the right place.

“I had a lot of offers and stuff, but you can't go wrong with the SEC and earning a scholarship there. I prayed on it and I think God really spoke to me and made my path for me.”

Since Missouri has made the move to the SEC, the program’s depth at defensive lineman has been exposed. The program is hopeful that Crawford, who can play on the interior or at strong-side end, will have an immediate presence.

“The hope is that I can come in as a freshman and compete with the juniors and seniors they have for playing time,” he said. “Hopefully I can win a spot on the two-deep roster. For me this upcoming offseason is going to be important because I’ll need to train hard and work to get where they want me to be by the time I enroll.”

Crawford said he’s solid to Missouri and doubts he will take any other official visits.
