It’s getting down to the wire for three-star linebacker Mike Love (Clearwater, Fla./Countryside) and the 6-foot-3, 212-pound senior has put together a solid top group of schools that he will be able to move forward with.
His top five consists of UCF, Louisville, West Virginia, Nebraska and Iowa State.
“Obviously some people see me as a bit favorable towards UCF because that’s home and that’s the school closest to me, but all five programs are in the picture,” Love said.
And while it’s likely he’ll wait until January before taking his official to the Knights, he’s planning other visits sooner.
“I have been in contact with Nebraska and West Virginia about maybe taking officials in November,” Love said. “I’d like to wait until the end of the season but at the same time I might want to see a game or two and check out the experience preparing for a game so we’ll see.”
Love, who plays defensive end in high school, is being recruited as an outside linebacker.
“Basically I’m going to be a outside ‘backer in a 4-3 and more of a designated pass-rush type of guy in a 3-4,” Love said. “I’m comfortable in either situation actually so it works out for me.”
A decision should be expected after his final official visit, which will likely be to UCF in mid-January.
“I’m just looking for the place that feels right to me,” Love added. “Are there good opportunities for a good life after football? Does it feel like a home away from home? Those are the questions I’ll be trying to answer on my visits.”
