Class of 2014 defensive back Kyle Gibson (Seffner, Fla./Armwood) is still sitting on early offers from UCF and Vanderbilt.
However, recruitment for the 6-foot-1, 190-pound junior has picked up considerably in the last month.
“Everything's going real well in the recruiting area,” Gibson said. “A coach from Notre Dame stopped by (Wednesday) to get film. They have been showing a lot of interest but no offer yet.”
Gibson says Michigan, Georgia, Miami, LSU, Michigan State, Cincinnati, UCLA and Cal have all really picked up their interest within the last week.
Some in-state programs have also joined the fray.
“I've been talking to UCF mostly and it’s been going that way for a while,” Gibson said. “Florida got in touch with me too. [Director of player personnel Jon] Haskins said he was impressed with my film and would stay in touch.
"I've been talking with South Florida a little, I saw them play Rutgers and I'm going to go back this weekend. I like them; I like Skip Holtz a lot. They have the talent, they just need something to bring it together.”
Gibson is hoping another state school reaches out soon.
"I grew up as a Florida State fan,” Gibson said. “I've gotten a few letters but I haven't spoken to any coaches yet. I hope they come through, but you know Armwood sends a lot of their best players to Florida so maybe the staff is a little worried. I hope they stop by though.”
Gibson says he was supposed to attend UCF-Missouri but decided on the South Florida-FSU game instead. He plans to be at the UCF campus when the Knights host Southern Mississippi on Oct. 12.
