Much has been made of the commitment status of Gainesville’s four-star defensive back Chris Bivins. The 5-foot-11, 175-pounder committed to South Florida in the spring with his sister, a volleyball player, but in the past few months he’s continued to take official visits.
This past weekend he finally took his official to USF and watched the Bulls fall 6-3 to the Miami Hurricanes in front of a team’s largest crowd of the season.
“It was a good trip, I had a lot of fun and got to see everything I really needed to see,” Bivins added.
The cornerback also said he felt a little more comfortable with his commitment.
“The coaches told me they want me there and I’m there main priority,” Bivins said. “They said I should be able to get some early playing time if I come in with the right attitude and work hard.”
With his official to USF out of the way, Bivins has one remaining visit left – Tennessee on Dec. 3 – and he will be graduating soon after with a January enrollment date.
While Bivins’ commitment is more solid to USF today it’s still not over.
“Tennessee has been on me pretty hard in the last few weeks,” Bivins added.
He has two former high school teammates, Jordan Williams and Trevarris Saulsberry, as well as a cousin, Curt Maggitt, on the squad.
“I was talking with Curt a little earlier on Twitter,” Bivins said. “He’s pretty excited for me to see the school.”
