Junior running back Racean Thomas (Oxford, Ala./Oxford) might be closing in on a decision, but he wanted to visit Auburn before he commits anywhere. On Saturday, he was in town to watch the Tigers take on LSU.
“It was good,” Thomas said. “I got to talk to a few coaches that I didn’t really get to catch up with for a while since the camp I went to. The atmosphere was great, a lot of good fans out there. I got to go in the locker room a little bit to see how the players prepare for the game. That was a really good experience for me.”
On his visit, Thomas met with AU head coach Gene Chizik and assistant coach Trooper Taylor, who told him to just enjoy the day.
As for the game itself, LSU was heavily favored coming into the game, but Auburn kept it close before coming up short in the end.
“They played good,” Thomas said. “I thought they played with a lot of heart. I didn’t think they were going to give up at all, and it really paid off because they came close to beating a good team. That was pretty good to see.”
The 5-foot-11, 182-pound running back says he’s still close to making a decision. This Saturday, he plans to visit the University of Alabama to see the Crimson Tide play Ole Miss.
“This will be the first time that I’ve seen Alabama play this year,” Thomas said. “I’m really excited. I just want to see them in person, get that in-person experience. I just want to see how they’re going to play.”
