Purdue sticks out for RB Woodley

Three-star running back Lorenzo Woodley (Miami, Fla./Christopher Columbus) says that his recruitment has been in a bit of a holding pattern in recent weeks.

The 6-foot, 205-pound senior has been more focused on his senior year than his future college program but says that Purdue has really stepped up their efforts to recruit him.

"I hear from the Purdue coaches more than anyone else right now," Woodley said. "I have an official visit scheduled for Nov. 2. I'm also hearing from the Vanderbilt coaching staff and the Pittsburgh coaching staff quite often."

Purdue recruits the Miami area frequently and one of Woodley's former teammates, Gary Bush, is currently on the Purdue roster.

"I haven't talked with Gary about Purdue yet but I probably will in the next few weeks," Woodley added.

Woodley holds offers from several other programs including South Florida, Rutgers, Ole Miss, Indiana and N.C. State. Right now everyone is in play.

"If a program shows interest in me I'm definitely going to consider them," Woodley said. "It's as simple as that right now because I haven't put together a top five or decided what area of the country I want to play ball."

Purdue's persistence, however, has paid off with a scheduled visit and Woodley admits that playing in the Big 10 is something that appeals to him.

"They want a bigger back in their offense and the Big 10 has a great history of producing big, strong running backs," Woodley said. "It's such a competitive conference and every year there are 8-9 teams that could win. It might be the right fit for me."
