Tide QB commit seeks consistency

9/6/2012

In the first two games this season, Walton High has played two games past midnight. Quarterback Parker McLeod (Marietta, Ga./Walton), an Alabama commitment, is hoping to a return to normalcy can help him iron out some kinks.

"It feels good being 2-0," McLeod said. "Obviously this is the second week we have been playing to about one in the morning, so not optimal conditions. It was a messy game and we did not play very well, so it was likely too close for us, but we were happy to get out of here with a win."

McLeod has completed 16 of 29 passes for 134 yards. He is not thrilled with how his senior season started, but the three-star prospect knows he does not always have to make all of the plays in order for his team to win.

"I have not done too well so far this year, so I am not too pleased with my performance," McLeod said. "I started a little slow and really not up to the standards that I should be playing. But with a back like Tyren Jones (Marietta, Ga./Walton) bailing me out, I do not have to have my A-game every week, so that helps."

The future Crimson Tide signal-caller is hoping he gets the early jitters out of the way now, and thinks his best games are ahead of him.

"I need to be more consistent," McLeod said. "I can throw some good balls here and there, but I have yet to play well for a full game. I just need to work on calming down early on and just playing my game."

McLeod said he will likely be in Tuscaloosa this weekend, but has yet to set a date for his official visit to Alabama.
