While ESPN 300 wide receiver Richard Benjamin (Tampa, Fla./Tampa Bay Tech) is not likely to make or break a recruiting class, the 6-foot, 190-pound senior's surprising departure from UCF's class does force the Knights to do a little scrambling.
At the end of July the Knights were sitting pretty with Benjamin securely in the fold and seemingly in the lead for ESPN 150 athlete Alvin Bailey. With two ranked four-star playmakers in the same class, the Knights could have been headed to the Big East with some big names.
But as we approach the end of August, things have taken a turn for the worse. First, the UCF program was hit with NCAA sanctions that included a loss of scholarships and any postseason play in 2012. Now Benjamin's decommitment leaves more questions than answers about UCF's 2013 recruiting class.
