Florida International's 2013 recruiting class was bolstered by two local defensive back commitments in Simeon Thomas (Miami/Carol City) and Xavier Hines (Miami/Belen Jesuit Prep) this week.
Thomas, a 6-foot-3, 172-pound safety, chose the Golden Panthers on Saturday, citing the opportunity to build something special under head coach Mario Cristobal.
"The opportunity was there," he said. "I have the chance to play as a true freshman with Troy McCollum and Xavier Hines, who committed as well. I feel we can take the program to the next level."
