Class of 2014 defensive tackle Travonte Valentine (Palm Bay, Fla./Bayside) was one of the many observers of Friday Night Lights this weekend at the University of Florida, and while the 6-foot-2, 285-pound prospect wasn't working out, he was keeping mental notes.
"I had a chance to watch the defensive linemen closely and check out all what coach Bryant Young was doing with them," Valentine said. "It was a good to see how he coaches and overall I enjoyed things."
Valentine committed to Louisville earlier in the summer and decommitted just a few days later. Since then he has taken in visits to Miami and Florida State. While he wants to commit again sooner than later he will not do so before looking at Auburn and Alabama.
So far the trip that has made the biggest impression on him was Florida State.
"I liked Florida State and I loved the area up there in Tallahassee," Valentine said. "It's the type of place I could see myself spending four years and enjoying it.
"Me and coach Odell [Haggins] had a good chance to talk and I got to see how he interacts with all kinds of players. He's a tough guy but he's funny and he knows a lot. Coach Young knows a lot too so I'm interested in Florida as well as Alabama and Auburn."
There's a chance he could see the three Florida schools along with Auburn and Alabama during the season.
"I feel like I need to see all the schools I'm interested in again," Valentine added. "Probably go to a football game and take in the atmosphere and see how things are done on game day."
