Tampa (Fla.) Catholic wide receiver Zach Benjamin has gone from being an unknown prospect to a rising sleeper during the last five months.
The 6-foot-4, 185-pound prospect nicknamed ‘Big Bird’ has offers from several non-AQ programs such as Air Force, Toledo, Arkansas State and Bowling Green. He also has several BCS schools checking him out.
“I went to camp at South Florida and I think they are taking a look at me,” Benjamin said. “I know UConn and Boston College are also keeping an eye on me and they are thinking about offering.”
“They might wait to see my first couple of games but that’s all right,” Benjamin added. “I’m just going to keep grinding.”
Litton not thinking about recruiting
Class of 2014 quarterback prospect Chase Litton (Tampa, Fla./Wharton) admits he might have been too consumed with recruiting and it led to some struggles in some offseason events.
However, the 6-6, 195-pound junior said he’s focusing more on playing well this upcoming year and getting better as a football player.
“I still have a long ways to go as a quarterback and I want to make the improvements necessary to be the best player I can be,” Litton said. “That’s why I’m here today. This isn’t a camp about recruiting or trying to impress a coach, it’s a learning camp.”
Litton has camped at or visited several programs around the southeast including Tennessee, Georgia and Miami. He says he’s learning things at each stop.
“I’m focusing more on what they are teaching instead of how I can make them say ‘wow’, Litton said. “More coaches will be impressed by my ability to learn and improve than just natural talent.”
