Four-star defensive back Sojourn Shelton (Plantation, Fla./Plantation) isn't ready to give up on his commitment to Florida State.
Despite months of rumors to the contrary the 5-foot-9, 155-pound senior says he would love to honor his pledge to play in Tallahassee.
"I committed to FSU because I love the school," Shelton said. "A few things have changed since I was there last so I just need to go back and make sure the coaches still believe in me."
Shelton said the departure of FSU assistant Terrell Buckley to Akron was tough to take since he was one of Shelton's primary contacts with the program.
"Coach Buckley was great to deal with, and since he's been gone it doesn't seem like things are the same," Shelton said.
"You hear a lot of things about this coach leaving and that coach leaving so I want to know what the deal is."
Shelton said he will likely visit FSU during its upcoming camp and he is looking forward to talking with head coach Jimbo Fisher and defensive coordinator Mark Stoops.
"I just want to get back there and remember why I committed in the first place," Shelton added. "I think once I get around the program and the coaches it will feel like it did when I first committed."
Shelton has been entertaining offers from Wisconsin, South Carolina, Wake Forest and UCF.
"I'm still keeping my options open just in case but I'd like to be solidly committed before the start of my senior year," Shelton added.
