Christopher Murphy (Kennesaw, Ga./Harrison) long suspected Vanderbilt would be his first offer.
It wasn't. But he was close. The Commodores became the 2014 cornerback's second offer when they extended one on Monday.
The 5-foot-10, 177-pound defensive back visited Vanderbilt as recently as June 3. Murphy, whose first offer came from North Carolina, said he was happy to finally get the offer from the Commodores.
"I am happy it finally came through," he said. "... I am not mad at all (Vanderbilt didn't offer earlier) just extremely happy and thankful they thought enough of me to offer, and that itself tells me what they think of me."
