RB Kemp makes it official at Super Bull

6/23/2012

Four-star running back Jojo Kemp (Deland, Fla./Deland) committed to South Florida during the program's "Super Bull" showcase Saturday evening.

The 5-foot-10, 190-pound junior said South Florida had been his top school and he made the decision after working out with South Florida running back coach Larry Scott during the event.

"I really liked the entire coaching staff here, coach Scott, coach [Skip] Holtz, coach [Peter] Vaas and coach [Todd] Fitch are all just great guys," said Kemp. "This is a great program and they have a need at my position so there's an opportunity to come in and get some playing time as a freshman."

Kemp said he personally told Holtz of his decision during their meeting and the 48-year-old head coach started jumping up and down.

"I was a little worried because he's pretty old and I didn't want him to hurt himself," Kemp joked. "But he was very excited and I'm excited to be here because they made it clear that I was a priority."

Kemp's close friendship with Winter Park (Fla.) quarterback Asiantii Woulard was another help in making a decision. As a junior Kemp rushed for over 1,200 yards and 14 touchdowns. Kemp said he chose the Bulls over West Virginia, Kentucky, Arizona State and Purdue.

"I want to be successful in life, not only football but my education and the academics here are very strong," Kemp said. "I just have a great connection to this place."
