With a scholarship offer from Tennessee in hand, Akia Booker is ready for the next round.
The receiver from Duncan (S.C.) Byrnes picked up a scholarship offer from the Volunteers this spring. He said Clemson and South Carolina have shown interest and could be close to offering him a scholarship. Either school would have to overcome the early impression that Tennessee has left.
“Most definitely Tennessee,” Booker said when asked what school or schools may be standing out. “Tennessee is my No. 1 so far.”
Booker said he liked the school's atmosphere, its offense and fans. He also has a connection with Tennessee quarterback commitment Riley Ferguson, whom he worked with at a passing camp.
Booker also has a tie to Clemson. He is friends with Clemson defensive line commitment Robert Nkemdiche. Booker said he will attend more camps before announcing his decision.
“Most likely I'll be decided by the time school starts back [on Aug. 27],” he said.
