A battle between county foes, both nationally ranked, saw Seffner Armwood shut out Tampa Plant for the second time in as many seasons. Check out the stars of the Hawks’ 21-0 victory Friday night:

Matt Jones, RB, Armwood – One of the main reasons the four-star running back isn’t in the ESPNU 150 is inconsistency. Jones just doesn’t “bring it” on every down like he should. On Friday there were times when he got happy feet and spent too much time trying to make a highlight-reel worthy juke instead of putting his head down and imposing his will with his 6-foot-2, 225-pound frame. He had a few impressive power runs in the first half, but he saved his best effort for closing time. With Armwood up 15-0, Jones took a handoff at the 30 and plowed through the middle of Plant’s defense for a touchdown. He showed power, speed and determination in the final 10 yards as he decided he wouldn’t be denied a trip to the end zone. When Jones wants to do that on every down, he can match up with any running back in the nation.

Eric Striker, LB/S, Armwood – Striker, an Oklahoma commit, plays with the intensity that will make him a fan favorite in Norman. That being said, his aggressive play can be a tremendous asset or it can be a major flaw. It was an asset when he lined up as a pass rusher on third downs, but it was a flaw when he committed a 15-yard penalty after over-running a play and grabbing a face mask out of desperation. Had Striker just taken himself out of the play, his teammates would have cleaned up and gotten the safety. However, the good far outweighs the bad when it comes to this prospect.
