Plant City (Fla.) defensive lineman Devyn Salmon has had a strong spring. The 6-foot-1, 283-pound tackle has picked up a half dozen offers since the end of April and is ready to name a leader.
"I'm feeling the most love from Iowa State right now," he said. "I have a real good relationship with coach [Shane] Burnham and I know some players that go there and love it."
Salmon said he's continuing to receive interest from other programs, especially Florida and Miami, but either in-state program will have to deal with serious competition from the Cyclones.
"Iowa State has a real stable situation in terms of what they expect from the players in the program on and off the field," Salmon said. "A key thing for me is academics and Iowa State has the situation in place for athletes to be successful."
Salmon has visited South Florida and Central Florida during the spring and says he'll definitely take an official visit to Iowa State in the fall.
"Right now we're talking about which weekend I'm going to be there," Salmon said of his official visit. "That's a top priority for me right now."
