Skinner talks about Arkansas commitment

5/16/2012

The Arkansas Razorbacks picked up commitment No. 2 under the John L. Smith regime with the pledge late last week from Deondre Skinner (Patterson, La./Patterson), a 6-foot-4 and 225-pound three-star tight end.

“I did commit to Arkansas last Friday,” Skinner said. “I have been their twice now. I went to a junior day and took all the tours. I really liked everything. The facilities and dorm rooms are great. I love the academics and the academic support system they have. I mean I just loved everything and everyone is so nice. I feel really close to the coaches and there seems to be a good family atmosphere. I really believe that I have a good future there.”

The Razorbacks are in somewhat of a transition after Bobby Petrino was fired this spring and recently replaced by Smith.

“From what I hear it’s been a real good transition there,” Skinner said. “To be honest I have not really talked with [Smith] yet but I know that they throw the ball a lot. That’s not going to change. I am sure things will be great once I meet him.”

In the meantime Skinner is just excited about his decision and future with the University of Arkansas.

“I think I am a natural athlete with good hands and speed,” Skinner said. “And I will do my best to help them win a national championship.”

Arkansas also has a commitment from running back Kaleb Blanchard (Denham Springs, La.). The Razorbacks lost a pair of prior commitments following the dismissal of coach Petrino.
