Manatee (Bradenton, Fla.) athlete Anthony Lauro didn't suit up for Saturday's scrimmage against East Lake (Tarpon Springs, Fla.) but he is expected to return to the field for the final week of spring practice and the spring game against Gibbs (St. Petersburg, Fla.).
"I had a little injury and the spring isn't the time to take those chances," Lauro said. "I'll be back in a few days I hope."
Lauro currently has offers from Western Kentucky and Akron but is expecting new offers to come through before the end of spring.
"Purdue seems very interested in me right now and I think they are close to offering," Lauro said. "Georgia Tech is the same way, they seem to like me a lot.
"Iowa State is also pretty interested so we'll see who pulls the trigger."
Lauro has bulked up in the offseason and is now close to 200 pounds. He's expected to play both running back and slot receiver and wanted to hold up physically for the season.
"I'll probably have more carries this season so I wanted to be prepared for it," Lauro said. "I'm definitely hitting the weights a lot more."
