Miami picked up a big commitment Wednesday from ESPNU 150 Watch List TE Standish Dobard (New Orleans/Edna Karr).
“He went there on a visit and is still there,” Edna Karr coach Jabbar Juluke said. “I haven’t spoken with him directly since his decision but we did text each other and I congratulated him. When you have guys that have been through that program like Jeremy Shockey and Kellen Winslow at the position he plays that’s big. Miami was one of the first schools that made the tight end important in what they do.”
Dobard, now 6-foot-5 and 240 pounds, has big things ahead of him according to his coach.
“Miami is getting a very hard worker and a very determined young man on and off the field,” Juluke said. “He will do all things you ask. Standish is a very good player and even better individual.”
Dobard picked the Hurricanes over scholarship offers from Georgia, Auburn, LSU, FSU, Nebraska, Colorado and Mississippi State. Miami now has five commitments in its 2013 class.
