Bulldogs land WR Brandon Wells

4/4/2012

Brandon Wells (Bogue Chitto, Miss.) has made his commitment. The wide receiver from the Magnolia State is staying in-state after committing to coach Dan Mullen and Mississippi State.

“Brandon committed to Mississippi State last night ,” Bogue Chitto coach Gareth Sartin said. “He seemed to really like it when he went up there last fall for a few games. It’s also very convenient for his family to come see him play. They all love it. And he fits their offense. He plays in an open style offense right now.”

Wells, 6-foot and 180 pounds, does a little bit of everything for his high school team. In Starkville, they plan on using him the same way.

“They actually told him that they could use him at a few different positions and that’s very appealing to him,” Sartin said. “I think he will mainly be a receiver for them. He actually plays a little quarterback for us.”

Sartin believes he has the talent to do very well in Starkville under Mullen and his offensive staff.

“Brandon is very fast,” Sartin said. “He has also come a long way in his wide receiver skills. He can be an electrifying player. He does what it takes to get in the endzone. He can run by you, make you miss or run through you. He can leap and jump and will find the endzone. And he has great hands.”

Mississippi State now has two commitments for its 2013 recruiting class and both are wide receivers. The other is De’Vante Scott (Wesson, Miss./Copiah-Lincoln) from the junior college ranks.
