Christian Morris has another scholarship offer to consider and perhaps another on the way.
Louisville is the latest school to offer the 6-foot-5, 280-pound offensive tackle from Memphis (Tenn.) East High School.
“It's a cool offer,” Morris said. “I want to learn what goes on inside of that program.”
LSU could soon follow suit. The Tigers have reached out to Morris and he spoke to defensive coordinator John Chavis on Wednesday.
Choosing Chavis to recruit Morris may prove to be a wise decision. Chavis once coached at Tennessee and knows the Memphis area well. It also sends a message that Morris is important. Chavis, being a coordinator, doesn't recruit as much as other assistants.
Morris admitted he was a bit surprised by the sudden interest.
“I like the enthusiasm of the coaches right now,” Morris said. “I know they build great athletes too but I have a lot to learn (about the program).”
Morris also has scholarship offers from Ole Miss, Clemson, Memphis, Mississippi State, Purdue and Tennessee. He is scheduled to visit Vanderbilt this weekend along with two teammates: defensive tackle Herbert Moore and linebacker Marcus Robinson.
