Donovan McCray (Baton Rouge, La./McKinley), one of the defensive standouts at the National Underclassmen Combine Five-Star Showcase, took MVP honors on Saturday in Zachary, La.
“I actually start for my high school team at offensive guard,” McCray said. “So I have played a lot on the offensive line. This season I think I will play on both sides. I like defense and I am doing well out here.”
McCray, 6-foot-1 and 257 pounds, is a sleeper and an unknown but showed this weekend that with a good season this fall he has a chance to be a Division I recruit.
“I am getting letters from some schools,” McCray said. “Louisiana Lafayette seems to show the most interest and they have invited me to a junior day coming up.”
