Rakim Peters up to three offers

3/14/2012

Rakim Peters (Winder, Ga./Apalachee), a versatile defensive prospect from the state of Georgia, does it all for his high school team, according to coach Shane Davis.

“He starts for us as a strong-side defensive end,” Davis said. “When we go to a three-man front we move him to the secondary because he can play man coverage. Rakim is a three-year starter in basketball. He moves well and plays well in space. This kid is very physical as well. Rakim is a player that you can do so many things with and he gives you a lot of options.”

According to Davis, Peters has a trio of scholarship offers as well as a handful of teams showing great interest.

“Western Kentucky, Marshall and Syracuse have all offered him,” Davis said. “So many teams have told me on the phone that they just want to see him in person and get him on campus before they do something. Ole Miss, Virginia Tech, Michigan State, Penn State, Georgia, and Georgia Tech are all on him. They just want to get him to camp or to a junior day.”

Peters reminds Davis of a former Georgia Bulldog and Atlanta Falcon he coached for two seasons.

“The thing is Rakim will not be a guy that’s going to blow you away with his 40 or shuttle,” Davis said. “But his game speed is unbelievable. He’s just like Tony Taylor who I coached in high school. His best 40 was 4.75. He never got caught as a running back and was our leading tackler. Rakim is the same player. I promise you that.”
