East Lake (Tarpon Springs, Fla.) wide receiver Artavis Scott received a verbal offer from Florida State, the first offer for the 5-foot-10, 165-pound sophomore.
Scott was one of the state's top receivers in 2011, hauling in 54 passes for 1,158 yards and 12 touchdowns during the season.
"I'm very thankful for this being my first offer," Scott said. "It's the first step for me and FSU is a school that I'm very interested in."
While Scott is interested in the Seminoles, he admits he grew up as the fan of another school.
"I grew up as a fan of the Hurricanes," Scott said. "That was just how I grew up and I always thought my first offer would come from Miami but it's Florida State and that's cool."
Scott said he plans to go back to Tallahassee for FSU's spring game and one of the two summer camps sessions. He is also looking forward to checking out another ACC program.
"I would like to take a look at Clemson as well," Scott said. "The have been in communication with my coach quite a bit so I'd love to check them out.
"They have a good history with receivers in their offense."
