Spanish Fort teammates visit AU

Spanish Fort, Ala., teammates Jonathan Cook and Deon Johnson both visited Auburn today for the Tiger junior day. Both prospects liked what they saw.

“It was nice and we had a really good time,” Cook said. “I really like the facilities and the coaching staff. But they did not offer.”

According to Cook, he does have one offer from Arkansas State.

“They have offered me,” Cook said. “Auburn, Alabama, Michigan State, Louisville, and Missouri are some of the teams recruiting me right now.”

Cook, 6-foot-0 and 180 pounds, plays both cornerback and safety.

Johnson, 6-foot-0 and 171 pounds, had a really good junior season. He had 868 receiving yards and 19 touchdowns from his wide receiver position.

“I can catch the ball and break tackles,” Johnson said. “That’s what I do best out there. I can make a lot of big plays.”

Both Cook and Johnson made earlier junior day visits to Alabama. According to Johnson that’s when the Crimson Tide offered him a scholarship.

“I am open,” Johnson said. “I really had a good visit today to Auburn. I like their facilities, the family atmosphere and the coaches. But they didn’t offer me.

“We are supposed to go to Mississippi State’s junior day that’s coming up and some others. I like Alabama, Auburn, Mississippi State, Louisville, LSU and Nebraska.”

Both Cook and Johnson said that they plan on camping at Auburn this summer.
