Four-star wide receiver Nelson Agholor (Tampa/Berkeley Prep) couldn't believe the hot streak Tampa Catholic went on in the third quarter of their basketball matchup on Friday.
"They couldn't miss," said Agholor, who finished with 21 points in the 66-53 loss. "In the third quarter everything they threw up went in."
Agholor takes his basketball serious, as he's been playing AAU for years, but even he understands that the two hours on the court is the best opportunity he has to avoid the same questions about his recruitment.
"The whole process has actually been a lot of fun," Agholor said. "But this past week it's been pretty stressful mainly because I have to finally eliminate programs and that's tough to do."
He isn't making cuts yet and the five schools on his visit list -- Florida, FSU, Southern Cal, Notre Dame and Oklahoma -- remain in the hunt.
The final official takes place Saturday morning at 8 a.m. when the 6-foot-1, 190-pound athlete boards a plane to Los Angeles. It will be his third trip to USC.
"I love the campus, it's an amazing place," said Agholor.
He also loves the city and distance won't play a factor in the decision of a young man originally born in Lagos, Nigeria. It's all about relationships for Agholor, and his goal on this week's official visit is to see how strong his relationship is with USC.
"I've seen a lot of what I wanted to see in terms of facilities and the stadium and stuff like that," Agholor said. "I really want the one-on-one time with the coaches to ask the important questions and finally get some answers.
"It's so much more than just football for me. I want to feel a sense of comfort and a sense of community. Wherever I go it's going to be because I belong there."
Agholor said he'll make the tough phone calls to the programs he will not be attending on Tuesday. He will make his final decision a little after noon ET on ESPNU.
"There won't be any hat tricks or anything like that," Agholor said. "I'm going to tell everyone my choice and just smile.
"It's amazing opportunity to be able to do it on ESPNU and it's the final part of what's been an incredible journey that included the Under Armour All-American Game and "The Opening" and just meeting a lot of great people.
"Now it's time to get ready for the next step."
