Quarterback Steven Bench (Cairo, Ga./Cairo) was more shocked that Penn State came after him than over the scholarship offer he received from the Nittany Lions this weekend while he was on his official visit to State College.
"It was nice and very impressive," Bench said. "I was not really surprised they offered me, because I kind of assumed they would, because they wanted me to visit. I was really impressed with their facilities. They were amazing. But it was kind of a culture shock for a guy like me from Georgia. No one talks like me."
New Penn State coach Bill O'Brien wasn't on campus this weekend, because he was in New England getting ready to coach today's AFC Championship Game against Baltimore. Still, he managed to communicate one way or another with all the recruits that were on campus.
