Manatee (Bradenton, Fla.) defensive back Clinton Heaven will be taking his official visit this weekend to Chapel Hill as a future Tar Heel.
The 6-foot, 192 pound senior committed yesterday according to head coach Joe Kinnan.
"Clint decided that North Carolina was the best fit for him," Kinnan said. "I think they are getting a tremendous athlete."
Heaven's commitment is a big catch for new head coach Larry Fedora, who took the job around a month ago.
"I think he liked what the new staff was doing and the fact that Coach Fedora just seems to have success everywhere he goes," Kinnan added.
Heaven took an official visit to Vanderbilt last weekend and had offers from South Florida, Michigan State, Rutgers, Ohio State, Ole Miss, UCF and several more.
Kinnan says that academics won out for North Carolina.
"Clinton is a great student and he wants to go somewhere that he can earn a degree that will be beneficial to him once his athletic career is finished," Kinnan added. "I think he always liked North Carolina."
