Many say recruiting is a marathon and not a sprint. Case in point four-star defensive end Kenderius Whitehead (Lithonia, Ga./Martin Luther King). He has been a long-time lean to the Bulldogs, but now Georgia finds themselves out of the picture according to head coach Michael Carson.
“I think it’s just a situation at Georgia where they want him at outside linebacker,” Carson said. “They want him to stand up and play in space. He’s more comfortable with his hand down playing defensive end.”
So with UGA now out of the picture it’s a two-team race, or is it?
“He came to me this morning and said he wanted to set up a press conference and pick between N.C. State and Clemson,” Carson said. “He may do that tomorrow or this week. Then, Gamecock coach (Lorenzo) Ward come to the school and South Carolina is trying to make a push with him for Kenderius to visit them this weekend. So I don’t know.”
Whitehead, 6-foot-4 and 220-pounds, is the No. 30 ranked defensive end in the nation and the No. 28-ranked recruit from the state of Georgia.
