Decatur (Ga.) Columbia is home to a handful of Division I prospects. Headlining this group is three-star defensive end Jhaustin Thomas, who has committed to the Gamecocks.
“He’s scheduled to visit South Carolina this weekend,” Columbia head coach Mario Allen said. “He may visit Ole Miss but I am not sure. That’s on him.”
Thomas, 6-foot-6 and 240 pounds, is the nation’s No. 37-ranked defensive end and the No. 37 rated prospect from the state of Georgia.
Ole Miss RB commit Kenno Loyal is scheduled to visit the Rebels on Jan. 20.
Loyal, 5-foot-11 and 230-pounds, is the nation’s No. 16 ranked running back and the No. 29 rated recruit from the state of Georgia.
Columbia wide receiver Keithon Redding was previously committed to Tennessee but backed away from the Vols last week. According to Allen, Mississippi State is in the mix as well as Ole Miss.
"Right now, Keithon will visit Ole Miss (Jan. 20) and possibly Mississippi State,” Allen said. “He may be taking the SAT on [Jan. 28] so I am not sure if and when he will visit the Bulldogs. Memphis and Western Kentucky have also offered him.”
Redding, 6-foot-1 and 200 pounds, is a three-star recruit and the nation’s No. 56 ranked receiver and the No. 51 recruit from the state of Georgia.
Two more Columbia standouts drawing strong interest recently from UCF and then defensive coordinator Ted Roof. However, Roof has left the Knights for the same position at Penn State.
“I thought UCF was going to offer Dextin Love and Gerald Everett,” Allen said. “But Roof left so I don’t know. Mississippi State is a school that offered Dextin early but then got a commitment from an in-state guy so they backed off. They came back in on him about a week ago.
“Everett is a big receiver that has only played football for two years. He played as a freshman and this past season and he really blossomed. His upside is ridiculous. UCF, Mississippi State, Marshall and Western Kentucky are all showing interest. I know Marshall and Western Kentucky have offered him.”
Love, 5-foot-9 and 188-pounds, is a defensive back. Everett is a 6-foot-4 receiver.
There’s a very good possibility that Redding, Loyal, Love and Everett all could visit Marshall this weekend. That could be finalized in the next day or so, according to Allen.
