TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- The University of Alabama has just three 2014 commitments to date, but the Crimson Tide are off to a fast start in 2015.
On Saturday, sophomore defensive end Mekhi Brown (Columbus, Ga./Carver) committed to Alabama while on his visit to Tuscaloosa. He already had over 10 offers, including the likes of Auburn, Florida, Florida State and Georgia.
"Basically, it’s a win-win situation," Brown said. "You can’t go wrong with it. They’re the best in academics, best in football, sports. It’s a great school overall."
On his visit to UA, the 6-foot-5, 230-pound Brown took in the Tide’s first scrimmage of the spring. He says he’ll likely fill a similar role to Adrian Hubbard, who plays both the Jack and Sam linebacker positions.
"They said I’m very athletic," Brown said. "They said I can get after the quarterback and rush a little bit, and that’s what they want. They want a long, agile outside linebacker."
Brown joins fellow 2015 commitment Deionte Thompson, who chose Alabama at the Tide’s junior day in February.
